The College of Nursing supports a number of conferences and seminars throughout the year that provide opportunities for nurses to enhance their leadership skills and expand upon their nursing knowledge.
Conference on Pain
This popular annual conference is the largest conference on pain and pain management for nurses and other health professionals in Michigan.
Co-sponsored with University of Michigan Health System, St. Joseph Mercy Health System, Henry Ford Health System and Wayne State University College of Nursing, participants learn from national and statewide experts about a variety of pain management topics and issues. The purpose of this conference is to expose participants to factors that influence the management of pain, strategies for providing pain relief to specific populations and to discuss current issues in pain management.

ECG Interpretation and Treatment
Learn to interpret cardiac arrhythmias
During this face to face course, each week you will learn about different arrhythmias and interventions appropriate when patients experience cardiac arrhythmia. The course includes practice time in a simulated environment, which will enhance the learning experience. The treatment will be based on the American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS guidelines.

Grand Rounds
Learn about various healthcare topics
Grand Rounds are educational offerings provided by qualified healthcare professionals on various topics that include research findings by scholars; showcasing innovative interventions or techniques by expert practitioners; updates on diagnosis and treatment of specific conditions; and other offerings to educate professionals and provide networking opportunities.
Three types of Grand Rounds sessions are hosted by the College of Nursing:
- Rural Health Grand Rounds: Rural Health Grand Rounds are educational offerings provided for rural healthcare settings and providers as part of the mission of the Michigan Center for Rural Health (MCRH). The varied sessions are dedicated to improving the health of Michigan’s residents by providing distance education offerings that meet the needs of patients, families and healthcare professionals.
- College of Nursing Grand Rounds: Quarterly we will explore topics relating to nursing specialty areas, innovations in practice and presentations of research findings by nursing scholars.
- Geriatric Grand Rounds: Geriatric Grand Rounds are educational offerings for healthcare professionals engaged in the care of older adults across the continuum of care. Topics include current issues and clinical topics specific to this population.
All Grand Rounds offerings are hosted quarterly.
