This self-paced continuing education offering is intended to provide registered nurses with an overview of pain and the use of complementary therapies in pain management. This program will meet the State of Michigan requirement for 1.0 hour or continuing education in pain management.
In order to successfully pass this online offering you must pass the quiz with a score of 80% or higher, submit the evaluation and attendance information. Successful participants will receive 1.0 nursing continuing education contact hours. Certificates will be mailed monthly.
This course is taught by researcher Gwen Wyatt, PhD, RN, who has more than 25 years of experience as a Nurse and has received national funding to study complementary therapies. In 2007, she received a Kronton Institute Scholarship to study the conceptual basis of therapeutic touch with Nelda Samarel, an expert in therapeutic touch. Her current work focuses on the use of complementary therapy by women undergoing chemotherapy for late stage breast cancer.
