Does Watching TV Impact Cardiovascular Health?

Regardless of one’s physical activity, prolonged sitting can significantly increase the risk of contracting cardiovascular disease. Americans can counteract this by modifying potential risk factors, specifically one’s sedentary habits. In fact, approximately 2,200 deaths occur from cardiovascular disease each day.

Watching T.V. is the only sedentary activity proven to increase the likelihood of developing cardiovascular disease. In fact, watching T.V. for three or more hours per day can lead to a decrease in mortality. Researchers speculate it is because this particular activity is often accompanied by snacking on high-calorie foods.

Fibromyalgia: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment Plans

Fibromyalgia is a non-inflammatory soft tissue pain condition that can greatly impact an individual’s social and work life quality. Although there aren’t specific tests to diagnose fibromyalgia, it is crucial to actively work with your healthcare provider to better understand the disorder, identify and manage any sleep disturbances, and increase your confidence in the treatments you select. Your providers can help you develop coping mechanisms skills to manage the pain, and can provide support.
