MSU College of Nursing faculty and PhD students are on the move! Last month a team from the College attended the 13th annual American Psychosocial Oncology Society (APOS) conference in San Diego, California. Professor Gwen Wyatt and Associate Professor Rebecca Lehto, along with PhD students Megan Flanigan and Dawn Frambes, presented a 4-hour workshop titled “From Pre-Award to Post-Award: Intervention Protocols and Multi-Site Research Management.”
The workshop covered essential management aspects of multi-site intervention research; it included how to submit a grant application to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), maintaining intervention fidelity, data collection techniques, underlying mechanisms of action, post-award budget and multi-site implementation. The workshop also included opportunities for participants to learn complementary therapy techniques that have been tested in past NIH trials, such as reflexology, acupressure, and meditative practices.
The team of presenters received follow up emails from workshop participants. “I was struck by the excellent project management information! Can I stay in touch as I prepare my R01 application,” said one attendee.
