Academic Programs
B.S. in Nursing
REQUIREMENTS & PREREQUISITES
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is designed to provide a broad professional
preparation based on biological, physical and behavioral sciences, as well as the humanities. The
program is approved by the Michigan Board of Nursing and accredited by The Commission on
Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Graduates of the undergraduate nursing program receive a
Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, and qualify to take the state licensure examination to become
a Registered Nurse.
University Requirements
Nursing majors must complete Michigan State University's graduation requirements in mathematics, integrative studies,
writing and general science. The requirements for general science are met through the mandatory pre-nursing
and nursing science courses. The undergraduate nursing program requires 120 semester credits for graduation.

College of Nursing Requirements
Graduation from the nursing program requires a total of eight (8) semesters; 120 total credits, including:
- 4 semesters of prerequisite courses
- 4 semesters within the nursing major
