Our overall goal is to develop an ongoing program that provides educational opportunities for MSU students, service to the community, while simultaneously providing a basis for research programs.
Research
- Scientific validation of the role of animals in quality of life of humans across the lifespan
- Scientific validation of the therapeutic use of animals
Current Research Projects
- Nursing Home Visitors: What's your preference: Dog or person?
- Role of companion animals in the adaptation of chronically ill children
- Therapeutic riding: is it good for the horse? does it work for the rider?
Community programs
- Increase awareness of the power of the human animal bond, especially among health care providers and administrators

- Monthly Human-Animal Bond meetings

- Ongoing, externally funded programs of research
- Annual multidisciplinary conference
