APPLICATION


The College of Nursing is currently accepting applications for the Master of Science in Nursing:

The MSU College of Nursing MSN programs are accredited by the Center for Credentialing Nursing Education. The Nurse Anesthesia Program has received accreditation through the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, (222 South Prospect Avenue, Suite 304, Park Ridge, Illinois 60060-4041: Telephone 847-692-7050), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the United States Department of Education Accredited Nurse Anesthesia Programs. Classes will be based in East Lansing with clinicals in our affiliating agencies across the state.

The application deadline for the Nurse Anesthesia concentration is May 23, 2008. All application materials must be received by this date in order for the application to be considered complete. The next class will begin in January 2009. 

Applications to the Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Educator concentrations submitted by the following dates will be reviewed for Fall 2008 admission until  the classes are full: 

  • Applications submitted by October 1, 2007 will be considered for an early admission decision.
  • Applications submitted by January 1, 2008 will be considered in the second admission review. 
  • Applications submitted by March 31, 2008, will be considered in the third admission review. Admission interviews (by invitation) for the Nurse Practitioner concentration will be scheduled on April 21, 2008, April 22, 2008, and April 25, 2008.
  • Applications for the Nurse Educator concentration will be reviewed on a rolling basis until July 1, 2008.

  • Proof of an RN license free from restrictions or limitations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • A grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale) for total credits completed during the last two years of a baccalaureate program.
  • College of Nursing approved statistics course-must have been successfully completed within the last five (5) years. Approved Statistics Courses
  • One year of clinical experience in nursing prior to clinical courses.

Required Materials
  • Application and fee submitted to Michigan State University, apply on-line to: The Graduate School: Apply for Admission.
  • MSN Application to the College of Nursing, including references, resume, personal statement and transcripts from all previously attended institutions submitted to the:

  • Proof of an RN license free from restrictions or limitations. Please mail a copy of your license to the College of Nursing Graduate Admissions at the above address. Licenses will be verified through public access sites such as http://www.cis.state.mi.us/free/default.asp.
