bullet GIVING TO MSU NURSING

We Invite You to Invest in MSU Nursing

In the most cherished tradition of nursing, tomorrow's nursing leaders will be caregivers, first and foremost; but they will also be scientists, advocates, teachers, and lifelong learners-professionals who combine the highest ethical and practice standards with a deep respect for the dignity of the people they serve. We are proud of our alumni and the education they received at MSU Nursing. Nearly 4,000 MSU nurses have taken their place in the health care industry throughout the world. But, our nation is in crisis. Nursing education faces reduced funds, faculty shortage, and diminishing clinical sites. The decreased supply is coupled with an increased demand due to needs of the aging population, consumer expectations for qualified caregivers in all settings, technological advances in treatment, increased patient acuity, and new nursing roles such as case management.

This shortage will be longer and more severe than other shortages due to an aging nursing workforce. It is critical that MSU Nursing provide leadership for accessible, efficient, high quality nursing education and work at the national and state level to be part of the solution.

Investment Opportunities

The College’s mission is to enhance the health of the community by providing excellence in nursing education, advancing the profession of nursing, and serving as an advocate for optimal health care for all people. To further the mission, the College would like to invite you to help the programs grow in excellence by donating to these endowed funds.

College of Nursing Enrichment Fund
Annual gifts enhance the college’s ability to support student services, provide vital start up support for new projects, and to meet the college’s areas of greatest needs.

Florence Kempf Endowed Student Scholarship Fund
Scholarships are essential to assist students to achieve their dreams of becoming a nurse.

Dr. Isabelle K. Payne Endowed Professorship Fund
Milestones mark the progress of every organization. This is the college’s first campaign to endow a professorship. For a college, endowed faculty positions are one of the benchmarks that symbolize stature and prominence. The Payne Endowed Scholarship is named for one of the college’s most passionate advocates, Dean Emeritus Dr. Isabelle K. Payne. When fully funded, the fund may enable faculty to develop innovative curricular concepts, using state-of-the-art teaching with technology, creative ways to partner with the community to teach new areas like case management and health care finance. It may support faculty in the completion of essential research by funding a graduate assistant or other support staff, but providing supplemental salary or lighten the teaching load, or may bring renowned experts to the college.

Helen K. Grace Endowed Visiting Professor for Clinical Practice Fund
To ensure that our curriculum and clinical practice incorporate this nation’s leading scholarship and best nursing technology, the College of Nursing has established the Helen K. Grace Endowed Visiting Professor for Clinical Practice Fund.. The endowment was launched with an initial contribution of $150,000 from Helen K. Grace herself. Now, Dr. Grace challenged friends and alumni to support his clinical practice model with a contribution, which she will match and a corporate gift will double, in effect providing a three to one match. This endowment allows the College to invite the field’s leading scholars to the MSU campus, where nursing students will be exposed to the best thinking and latest innovation in health care delivery. Equally important, the presence of visiting scholars will enrich the faculty contributing to their knowledge and enhancing their leadership and advocacy roles.

Billie Diane Gamble Master Teacher Award
In honor of her contributions to the careers and lives of thousands of students and the College of Nursing, her former students are creating The Billie Diane Gamble Master Teacher Award. The Award will recognize excellence in teaching by acknowledging one faculty member annually and awarding a cash gift. The gift will provide the faculty member with enhanced educational opportunities. Learn more about the Billie Diane Gamble Master Teacher Award.
