The Michigan State University College of Nursing’s Nurse Anesthesiology program recently received re-accreditation for 10 years from the Council on Accreditation for Nurse Anesthesia Programs (COA).
Dr. Gayle Lourens, the program's director, states that to achieve accreditation status, a program must “meet or exceeds nationally established standards set by the COA to ensure that graduates are well prepared to enter the profession as certified registered nurse anesthetists".
Dean Leigh Small said it was a team effort to earn this re-accreditation.
“This recognition reflects the hard work that our faculty put into or CRNA program to ensure it meets the highest standards and satisfactorily prepares out students for their chosen career,” Small said. “Accreditation is a time-intensive process that often involves site visits from accreditors, as well as lengthy reports detailing curriculum, technology and other program specifics."
