The Spring 2027 application will open in September; you can find a link here at that time. Please note our Traditional BSN program is a "secondary" admission program, which means you must also apply to MSU or be a current MSU student before submitting your TBSN application.
How to Apply
Before the application deadline, complete the following:
If you are not a current MSU student, you must apply to the university.
Note: Applicants should not wait to receive an admissions decision from MSU before submitting the College of Nursing supplemental TBSN application.
Major preference on the MSU application is not taken into consideration during the TBSN admissions process. Applicants who select Pre-Nursing or Nursing are not given any preference.
The College of Nursing supplemental TBSN application includes documentation of relevant work, life, and community experiences.
Applicants will register for the Personal Reflection in D2L. This is a proctored essay using the Respondus software system. Applicants will have 2.5 hours to complete.
Application Review Process
Applications that meet the minimum eligibility requirements will be reviewed and scored as follows:
Admissions decisions typically go out 2-3 weeks after grades have been posted. Current MSU students will receive a confidential message to their MSU email address from the Office of the Registrar. Transfer students will receive an email to the address listed on the application.
The 2027 College of Nursing application will open in September. You can find a link here at that time.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Applications to the Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) concentration are paused for the 2026–27 academic year.

How to Apply
Submit an MSU Application
If you have never attended MSU at the undergraduate level, submit the MSU undergraduate transfer application for fall admission under the "Nursing - Accelerated Second Degree Program" major preference.
If you are a former MSU undergraduate student, submit the MSU readmission application. MSU students graduating in the spring must wait to submit their readmission application after graduation. This will not affect eligibility or application review.
Note: Applicants should not wait to receive an admissions decision from MSU before submitting the College of Nursing supplemental ABSN application!
Submit the College of Nursing Supplemental ABSN Application
It is strongly recommended that students complete the application in one sitting.
Applicants will be asked to respond to three short-answer (1500 characters or less) personal reflection prompts and provide a list of relevant experiences
Applicants will be required to provide information for all courses that were or will be completed to satisfy each of the eight prerequisites.

Submit Transcripts
Provide official transcripts showing completion or current enrollment in all prerequisite courses.
To be official, transcripts must be sent directly from each institution to the MSU Office of Admissions.
Note: Applicants who submit transcripts showing in-progress coursework must submit updated, final transcripts at the end of the spring semester. Please refer to MSU’s Academic calendar for semester end dates.
