Imagine a world where the strengths and diversity of people with disabilities are always accepted and valued.
In this episode of Imagine a World, Patty West from the Michigan State University College of Nursing explores how accessibility, inclusivity, and uniqueness can be recognized as strengths in health care, research, and communities.
Her research focuses on the health of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Supported by the National Institute of Nursing Research, this work helps children and adults with disabilities, their family members, communities, and nursing practice through interdisciplinary and community-engaged collaboration.
By advancing inclusive research and preparing the health care workforce with the knowledge and skills needed to provide high-quality care, this work supports a future where people with disabilities experience better health and greater equity.
