Dr. Ann Annis’ area of research involves evaluating patterns of health services delivery by interdisciplinary providers in primary care settings. Currently, her projects assess care delivery for patients with mental health or substance use conditions, particularly for Medicaid recipients in Michigan and several other states. Mental health care is often shared or distributed across interdisciplinary primary care and mental health providers, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician associates. This research explores how the provider workforce can be optimized to improve integrated behavioral and mental health services in primary care.
