The College of Nursing has several programs to help you become a BSN-prepared nurse while experiencing unique educational opportunities.
The ACCESS program supports motivated students admitted to Michigan State University as pre-nursing majors through academic support, mentoring, and enrichment opportunities.

Students admitted to MSU as pre-nursing majors who are selected for ACCESS* will be eligible for the following resources and support:
* Students admitted to Michigan State University as pre-nursing majors who demonstrate a commitment to the nursing profession, academic potential, leadership qualities, and a desire to contribute to the health and well-being of communities served by nurses are eligible to apply to the ACCESS Program. Students are invited to apply, complete a supplemental application, and undergo a holistic review process for program consideration.
** Students are eligible to enroll in the nursing program if they are admitted to the ACCESS Program, fulfill ACCESS Program participation requirements, complete the requirements for admission to the nursing major as outlined in the MSU Academic Programs Catalog, complete required immunizations, pass a criminal background check and drug screen, and comply with all standards required of nursing students by the College of Nursing and/or clinical partners prior to enrollment in clinical nursing courses.

The Nurse Scholar Program gives high-performing students the opportunity to earn conditional admission into the College of Nursing straight out of high school.
You are invited to apply to the Nurse Scholar Program if you are a high school senior and have a cumulative high school Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.8 (weighted or unweighted) on a 4.0 scale.

Prospective Nurse Scholar students must apply to the university under the Pre-Nursing preference via the standard freshman application process. Please note that the high school transcript provided to Michigan State University as part of the university application will be used to verify an applicant’s cumulative GPA.
Apply to the College of Nursing via supplemental application
Students are not required to be admitted to MSU before applying to the Nurse Scholar Program. It is strongly recommended that students complete the application in one sitting. Applicants will be asked to respond to three short-answer (1500 characters or less) personal reflection prompts and provide a list of relevant experiences.
For over 30 years, the College of Nursing has offered the Nursing in London study abroad program. The five-credit program compares nursing education, practice, and healthcare policy in the United Kingdom and the United States with emphasis on nursing’s historical development. Nursing history is also a key component of the program, and students have the opportunity to visit Florence Nightingale’s home and grave, among other historical sites.
The program offers students the chance to learn from British nurse educators, practitioners and officials. In addition, students will be able to observe in a variety of clinical settings.
This program is open to nursing students from colleges and universities throughout the United States who have completed their first-level clinical nursing courses comparable to such courses at Michigan State University.
The Nursing in London study abroad program is offered annually.
The Undergraduate Research Program provides students who are interested in research with an opportunity to become involved in various aspects of the research process, while gaining the knowledge, skills and values required for successful graduate study.

You can apply if you are currently enrolled in, or have successfully completed, Nursing 220. Students should plan to be enrolled in the nursing program during the subsequent academic year, have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0, and have a strong interest in nursing research and scholarship.
Complete the Undergraduate Nursing Research Application and submit by May 1.
Applicants will be notified of acceptance by MSU email early in July.
