Preceptor Self Claim CE Information

In addition to module CE contact hours, preceptors may claim state of Michigan continuing education (CE) credit for precepting!

A preceptorship must be for a minimum of 24 preceptor hours with a preceptor ratio of 1 student or employee to 1 preceptor. Twenty-four preceptor hours equals 1 continuing education hour.  Preceptors can claim up to 5 continuing education (CE) contact hours per licensure renewal cycle in Michigan / every 2 years. If audited, an applicant shall submit written documentation from the educational institution or preceptor’s supervisor verifying the dates and hours of the preceptorship. There is no set format or form for documentation for hours or participant verification.

The Michigan Public Health Code Administrative Rules language, reference numbers and breakdown of continuing education hours calculation and details for your reference can be found here (pp. 45-49).
