Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Michigan State University College of Nursing (MSU CON) is deeply committed to the advancement of inclusive excellence practices which strengthen the college’s connections to the community. Using culturally responsive pedagogy, engaged participatory research, and respectful clinical practice, the CON embraces diverse experiences, identities, and perspectives to develop a collective culture where the intersections of our members are welcomed, respected, and belong.

The CON firmly asserts that diversity and inclusion promote creativity, innovation, and a more equitable and exemplary learning environment for nurses and scholars. This commitment to diversity and inclusion encourages us to develop new knowledge, serve under-resourced communities, and eliminate health disparities through clinical, scholarly, and educational excellence. It is our moral responsibility to choose to be self-aware, stand against all forms of injustice and make decisions that increase equity daily, and we are committed to addressing all challenges to eliminate barriers to live out our inclusive values.
