Education, Certification, and Experience:
Currently, I work as a Health Education Consultant at Focus: HOPE, where I provide physical assessments and monitor the growth and development of children in the Center for Childhood program.
I am actively involved in my community, serving on the boards of The Corner Health Center and the Health Ecology Board of Governance. My focus on this board is at the intersection of justice, equity, diversity, inclusion (JEDI), health, and the environment. Professionally, I was the past Bylaws Chair for the Michigan Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and have recently been elected as a member-at-Large for the Michigan Public Health Association, where I address public health issues and challenges.
In my academic role, I teach in both the undergraduate and graduate divisions. My primary interest lies in the intersection of community health and service learning, with the goal of achieving the best quality of life and outcomes for all.
Career Highlights:
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to engage in a variety of roles and experiences that I’m incredibly proud of. One of my key highlights has been serving as a faculty advisor for the Michigan State University College of Nursing Black Student Nursing Asoocation program. This role allows me to directly impact students’ educational journeys and professional development, which I find deeply fulfilling.
I’m also particularly proud of my work in educational leadership and administration. My background in these areas has enabled me to contribute to meaningful changes and improvements within the educational system. Being able to guide students and collaborate with colleagues to foster a supportive and enriching learning environment is something I cherish greatly.
Another highlight for me is my involvement in various community and academic initiatives, which have allowed me to work closely with diverse groups and contribute to projects that align with my passion for education and leadership. Each of these experiences has reinforced my commitment to making a positive difference in the field of education and in the lives of students.
