Mary Lynn Davis-Ajami, PhD, MBA, MSN, FNP, RN is the Associate Dean Academic Affairs (ADAA) and Professor (tenured). As associate dean, she oversees the graduate and undergraduate programs for the college. Dr. Davis-Ajami is an educational leader with years of experience as an educator, nurse scientist, and nurse practitioner. Her wealth of experience is transforming the Michigan State University College of Nursing’s educational programs for the future.
Dr. Davis-Ajami has a growing national reputation in health services research (HSR) specializing in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) in chronic conditions and their comorbidities. She has been a PI, M-PI, and Co-I on over $1.3 million in funded research by the NIAID NIH, National Bureau of Economic Research, the Maryland Department of Health, and Mental Hygiene, among others.
Her peer-reviewed publications have notably appeared in the American Journal of Managed Care, Journal of General Internal Medicine, Archives of Gerontology and Geriatrics, Headache the Journal of Head and Face Pain, and Value in Health, among others. As a HEOR researcher, she has methods expertise in observational longitudinal research using large national databases e.g., HCUP, Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS), the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS), and the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).
Dr. Davis-Ajami’s work has been recognized through several awards for her excellence in nursing practice and as a nurse scientist, including awards from Indian University, the Novant Health System, North Carolina, and the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR), among others. Her service record includes work with AcademyHealth’s National Workforce Interest Group Advisory Committee, as well as active membership with several international and national professional organizations (e.g., AcademyHealth, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, International Society for Pharmacoeconomic Research, International Society to Advance Alzheimer’s Research and Treatment). She holds a PhD from The Ohio State College of Pharmacy in pharmacy administration with a research focus in Health Services Research – Health Economics and Outcomes research; MBA from Wake Forest University, MSN Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Southern Indiana, BSN from the University of Evansville, and a post master’s certificate in Teaching and Learning from the University of Maryland.
