Education, Certification, and Experience:
In 2004, I graduated with a BA in accounting from MSU Broad College of Business, followed by an MS in professional accounting from the same institution. My journey then took a turn towards healthcare, as I earned a BSN from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2015. Delving deeper into nursing, I pursued an MSN from MSU College of Nursing in 2017, specializing in adult-gerontology clinical nurse specialist and nurse education studies. Seeking to broaden my expertise, I obtained a Post-Master's certificate in psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner studies from Alverno College in 2021, and furthered my academic pursuits with a PhD in nursing from Marquette University College of Nursing in 2022.
Throughout my career, I've acquired various certifications, including being certified as a hospice and palliative nurse (CHPN) in 2013, an adult-gerontology clinical nurse specialist (AGCNS) in 2017, and a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) in 2022. My professional journey has led me through diverse settings, from oncology and palliative care as a staff nurse, to expanding my role as a clinical nurse specialist in oncology, palliative care, and pain management. As a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, I've had the privilege of serving in oncology, palliative care, and general practice settings.
Since 2012, I've been deeply committed to the nursing profession, serving communities in the Chicagoland, Greater Lansing, Metro Detroit, and Milwaukee areas. Each experience has enriched my understanding of healthcare and strengthened my dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families.
Career Highlights:
I have had many opportunities throughout my nursing career to help ease the patient journey, either by reducing symptoms related to their disease or treatment, or by helping to reduce the logistical burden of navigating health care. Too, I have been fortunate to be able to help patients, families, and clinicians work on their resilience and perseverance in many settings. More recently, I have been able to help integrate behavioral health into primary care spaces, helping to reduce the time it takes patients to receive specialized care.
