She realizes the journey to obtaining a college degree can be challenging for many students, particularly marginalized students who are often overlooked – first-generation college students, students of color, academically/economically disadvantaged students, and bereaved college students. Supporting underrepresented students is personal for Krystal, and she fervently expresses to all her students – “You’re Not Alone.” Krystal hopes that the students receiving this scholarship do the necessary work worldwide – serve as allies to pursue health equity, work to close health care disparities, and provide compassionate, quality, and culturally competent care for all.
