Overview
Begin your nursing journey
The MSU College of Nursing offers a bachelor’s in nursing (BSN) program that provides a broad professional preparation, integrating biological, physical and behavioral sciences as well as the humanities. In addition, we offer a study abroad opportunity to England each year, as well as many other ways to enhance your educational journey.
Graduates qualify to take the NCLEX-RN, the licensure examination for eligibility to become a registered nurse. Current reports indicate that MSU BSN graduates who took the NCLEX–RN examination in 2021 had a combined first-time pass rate of 92 percent.
Our undergraduate nursing program offers three routes to getting your BSN:
Traditional BSN
For first-degree undergraduate students.
This full-time, six-semester option is designed for students who have completed a minimum of 28 credits and required prerequisite courses.
Accelerated second degree BSN
For students already holding a bachelor's degree or higher in another field.
Those who have already earned a bachelor's degree or higher in another field are eligible to earn a bachelor of science in nursing on an accelerated timetable in this full-time, 15-month option.
BSN for registered nurses (RN-BSN)
For registered nurses holding an associate's degree or diploma in nursing and currently holding an unrestricted RN license.
This web-based option offers flexibility for registered nurses who seek to earn a bachelor of science in nursing. The program includes clinical practice in community health and leadership at sites convenient to students.
