Impact the educational experience of Spartan nurses
Clinical preceptors volunteer their time, talent, and nursing skills to help shape the next generation of nursing professionals and support the college us in a variety of clinical settings, from acute and primary care to community health and nursing education programs.
Preceptors provide clinical opportunities for our students to observe and participate in active professional nursing practice. Preceptors are integral to their preparation for their roles as nurse leaders.
Opportunities are available for volunteer clinical preceptors from a variety of nursing practice roles:
- Nurse Practitioners
- Nurse Educators
- Clinical Nurse Specialists
- Acute Care Nurses
- Community Health Nurses
We have clinical placements across most of Michigan:
MSU College of Nursing graduate program preceptors receive the following without adjunct faculty status:
- Free continuing education resources
- Contact hours for national certification
- Adding preceptor participation to their CV
- Offer to become adjunct with MSU’s College of Nursing after ONE semester
- Precepting for nationally ranked graduate programs
- Potential employee recruitment
MSU College of Nursing graduate program preceptors apply & receive adjunct faculty status and then receive the following (in addition to the above):
- Additional recognition on the CV as “adjunct faculty” for MSU’s College of Nursing
- MSU ID card & MSU net ID
- On campus and online library privileges
- Use of intramural facilities and Forest Akers Golf Courses
- Purchase of athletic tickets at faculty rates
- Eligibility for faculty membership in University Club
- Parking privileges (may purchase standard permit or, for limited use, may purchase guest permit)
- Discounts at bookstores and area shops when ID card is used.
